The Emmaus Music Ministry has something for everyone and we invite you to share your talents. From chant and hymns, to current praise and worship hits, we strive to add beautiful, meaningful music to the liturgy and grow in our faith together. We are a diverse group of widely varied ages, talents, education, specialties and disciplines and we ALWAYS welcome new members, any time of the year.
The ability to sing and/or play in tune is expected. The ability to read music is not required, but nice! All adult members of the music ministry MUST be EIM compliant.

Emmaus Schola - Something for Everyone
Mass: Sunday, 10:30 AM, Seasonal celebrations and Holy Days
Rehearsals: Wednesday, 6 PM
Members: Adult Vocalists and Instrumentalists
The Schola is our premiere music ensemble and explores all facets of choral repertoire from chant, praise and worship, and more. Each Schola member brings a unique set of individual gifts, vocal prowess, sight reading ability, and a host of other characteristics. We are also not limited in vision, and instrumentalists that possess the right skills are welcomed in the Schola. For those not able to make a weekly commitment, we still encourage them to contact us, as the Schola can be augmented throughout the year, particularly in the holiday seasons and other special liturgies.
Emmaus Junior Choir - Stewardship Habits at an Early Age
Mass: Sunday 10:30 AM Family Mass - First Sunday of the month
Rehearsals Wednesday prior at 6 PM
Members: Children grades 2-8 with the desire to sing joyfully, learn music and have fun are welcome!
The Junior Choir is a great way for children to begin giving of themselves through their talents in service to the church. For children that have Religious Education on Wednesdays, they will be excused from fifteen minutes of their class to attend rehearsal. The choir is not here just to make music, but is part of a child’s spiritual formation, that through music they may grow deeper in their faith.
Emmaus Contemporary Band - Serving the Youth and Beyond
Mass: Sundays 5 PM
Rehearsals: Thursday 6 PM
Members: Teens and adults grades 9 and up; vocalists and instrumentalists
At Emmaus, our model of contemporary worship is best described as having “no boundaries.” For us, this means not locking into a single theory of how contemporary worship should be done, but to integrate many models, philosophies, and musical styles. Also, “without boundaries” is our desire to rise up our teen members to explore greater opportunities as solo singers or instrumentalists. Our primary objective, apart from serving our youth, is to provide the best quality liturgical music possible within and outside of the praise and worship genre, not just for teens, but for young adults, families, and even older parishioners that attend our contemporary mass. Teens, there is something here for you, whether you are a vocalist or instrumentalist, a soloist or ensemble/small group singer.
Emmaus Children's Christmas Choir
This special choir sings at the 4 PM Christmas Eve Mass, and is a way for children to participate without having to make a long-term commitment to the Junior Choir. The ensemble rehearses several weeks leading to Christmas, beginning in early to mid-November. In the past, we have offered rehearsal times to coincide with Faith Formation classes. All children will have the opportunity to audition for numerous solo or cantor assignments. A similar program is offered for Easter.
Emmaus Senior and Junior Cantor Corps - The Face of Music Ministry
Within each ensemble at Emmaus, including the Junior Choir, are select auditioned members who serve as cantors. Cantors are most visibly associated with the person who delivers the psalm, but cantors can also sing solos or small group pieces, or make announcements and provide commentary. Each ensemble uses cantors in different ways, but the possibilities are endless. A cantor may sing at their regular Mass, but can be called upon to help other ensembles or utilized for holy days and other special liturgies such as First Communion and Confirmation. It is considered an honor to be a cantor and peers in the ensemble in which they participate recognize them as leaders. It is not always necessary that a cantor be in any of our ensembles.
Special Events Choir
Mass: Midnight Mass, Easter Vigil, Fall Fest Bilingual Mass, etc.
Rehearsal: As scheduled prior to the event
Members: Any willing parishioner, vocalists and instrumentalists
Requirements: The wish to join in the music community and lead in sung prayer.
To afford more singers the opportunity to participate in music ministry without the long term commitment, Emmaus’ music ministry offers a series of “drop-in” choirs with limited rehearsal commitment. Participation in a Special Event Choir at Emmaus is open to all current music ministry members as well as the entire parish. You need not commit to all scheduled liturgies to be a member of our Special Event Choirs group.
Queen of Angels Choir
Mass: Sundays 10 AM; Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7-8:30 PM in the Chapel Gallery.
If you are interested in singing in the Queen of Angels choir or playing a musical instrument, contact Dr. John J. Hoffman, Music Coordinator, after the Sunday liturgy or by email to john.hoffman@emmausparish.org.
Emmaus Spanish Choir

The Hispanic Music Ministry wants to bring the Emmaus community closer to God through liturgical music with a variety of rhythms from Latin America that invites us to walk together the path we are called to walk and become one Church in Christ; The Ministry is formed by people who want to put their talents and desire to sing to the Lord and serve their community. If you would like to praise the Lord in song, join us! Volunteers are needed. Contact Paola Narvaez, (512) 261-8500.
