As of January, 2016, José Juan Valdez has joined Emmaus as our new Director of Adult Faith Formation and Family Life. Originally from Romita, Guanajuato, México, he is certified as a Family Education Specialist through Houston Community College (HCC), obtained a Bachelor of Philosophy from the Conciliar Seminary of León, and a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston. José Juan worked for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston for 13 years. In his most recent position at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Houston, he served as Director of Adult Faith Formation. He was also an instructor for the Archdiocese’s Office of Evangelization and Catechesis, teaching in the Biblical Studies Program and Formation toward Christian Ministry (FTCM), a program consisting of basic theology for lay ministers. In addition, José Juan is an author and has self-published five books on various topics in Spanish such as Introduction to the Bible, Pneumatology, Vatican II and Evangelization of Young Adults.
